Terms and conditions
The rules of the competition and the terms you accept when you enter. Entry is free, every result is decided by skill, and no part of this competition is decided by chance.
- Promoter
- The Acacia Tree Pty Ltd, ABN 65 625 836 044
- Status
- Approved and in effect
- Applies from
- 1 August 2026
1. How the competition works
5 points for every team you put in exactly the right position. Place all five teams correctly and you have a perfect board, which adds 3 points. The bonus is deliberately small, so the season is decided by accuracy sustained across it rather than by one lucky round.
Everything below is generated from the settings the scoring engine itself uses, so it describes what is actually applied to your board rather than what applied when this page was written. It is part of these terms.
Entering
- Entry is free. There is no entry fee, no purchase, and no payment method is collected at any point.
- One entry per person. Your email address is verified before your entry counts, and addresses are normalised so that variations of the same address are treated as the same person.
- You can join partway through the season. You are scored from the round you join in, and earlier rounds are not added back.
Each round
- Rank every team in the round from first to last before the round locks. You are predicting the order the judges will place them in, not voting for the room you like most.
- You can optionally guess the score the judges give the winning room. Leaving it blank costs you nothing.
- You can change your board as many times as you like until the round locks. The last board you submit before lock is the one that is scored.
How points work
- Each team you place in its exact finishing position scores 5 points.
- Each position away from where a team actually finished costs 1 point, down to a floor of zero. One place out scores 4, two places out scores 3, and so on. With five teams that is up to 25 points from placements.
- Place all five teams correctly and you have a perfect board, which adds 3 points. The bonus is deliberately small, so the season is decided by accuracy sustained across it rather than by one lucky round.
- An exact score guess is worth 5 points. Every point you are out reduces that by 1, down to zero, so half a point out scores 4.5.
- A round can carry a multiplier. Where it does, the multiplier applies to your whole round total, and it is shown on the round itself before it locks as well as on the leaderboard.
- Where the judges place two or more teams equal, those teams jointly occupy the positions they share, and you are credited with whichever order you put them in.
The ladder, and how level scores are separated
- Round totals add up across the season. The highest total leads the ladder.
- Level totals are separated in this order: most perfect boards, then most teams placed exactly, then most exact score guesses, then whoever submitted their first board earliest.
- No step of that chain uses a random draw. Nothing in this competition is decided by chance at any stage, including as a final tie-break.
Rounds that do not count
- A round that is voided is removed from every total rather than scored as zero, so nobody is punished for a round that could not be judged.
- If you were eligible for a round and did not submit a board, that round scores zero.
- If a team withdraws, it is removed from both the judged result and your board and the gap is closed, so you are not penalised for positions you could not have known to skip.
2. Who runs this competition
This competition is run and paid for by The Acacia Tree Pty Ltd, ABN 65 625 836 044, trading as The Acacia Tree Furniture, of 1048 Geographe Bay Road, Geographe WA 6280. In these terms that company is “we”, “us” and “the promoter”.
We own the prize and we fund it. No broadcaster, production company, programme or brand partner runs this competition, pays for it, or has any say in who wins it.
This competition is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by the programme, its producers or its broadcaster. The disclaimer at the foot of every page on this site says so, and it is part of these terms.
You can reach us by post at 1048 Geographe Bay Road, Geographe WA 6280, or through the contact details published at theacaciatree.com.au. We answer competition enquiries within 5 working days.
3. This is a game of skill
Every result in this competition is decided by skill. You are judged on how accurately you predict the outcome the judges reach, measured against the scoring rules published on this page. No part of this competition is decided by chance at any stage, including the way level scores are separated. There is no draw, no ballot, no coin toss and no random number anywhere in it.
That is a description of how the software works rather than of the spirit of the thing. The same rules are applied to every board by the same code. The scoring is published before a round opens, and the order in which level scores are separated is published too, under “Level scores, and why there is never a draw”.
It also means there is nothing here to gamble on. You cannot buy an entry, buy an advantage, or change the size of the prize. There is one prize, and accuracy is the only thing that wins it.
4. Who can enter
Entry is open to residents of Australia who are 18 or over at the time they enter. Every state and territory is included.
You may hold one entry only. Two people living at the same address may each enter, as long as each of them enters for themselves and uses their own email address.
These people cannot enter: our directors and employees, their spouses, partners, parents, children and siblings, and anyone else involved in running, scoring or judging this competition.
We do not ask for your date of birth and we do not ask for proof of where you live. Instead you tick a box confirming that you are 18 or over and live in Australia, and we record the moment you ticked it. You cannot enter without it, and it is a separate box from the marketing one.
If someone who is not eligible enters, their entry does not count. If we only find out after they have been named as the winner, the prize passes on as described under “If the prize is not claimed”.
5. How to enter, and that it is free
Entry is free. There is nothing to buy, at any point, and we never collect a payment method. We will not ask you for card or bank details to enter, to keep playing, or to claim the prize.
The steps
- Rank the teams for the round that is open. That is your board.
- Give us a display name, an email address and your postcode. A phone number is optional.
- Open the email we send and follow the link in it. That verifies your address.
- Keep the season entry code in that email. It is how you get back to your board.
Your entry counts from the moment your email address is verified. Until then your board is saved but you are not in the competition, and an unverified sign-up is not an entry.
Your season code is your identity for the whole season. Anyone who has it can see and change your boards, so keep it to yourself. If you share it, that is at your own risk, and boards submitted with your code count as yours.
You need your own internet access, your own device and a working email address, and you pay for those yourself.
6. When rounds open and close
The competition runs in weekly rounds across the 2026 season, one round for each judged reveal. We expect nine. The number of rounds follows the programme, so if the programme judges more or fewer reveals than that, the competition does too and we publish the change.
Every round has a lock time, and it is shown on the round itself before you submit. All times on this site are Australian Eastern time in Sydney, printed with the time zone beside them, so the deadline is the same instant wherever you are. Daylight saving is handled for you: the zone shown changes from AEST to AEDT when daylight saving starts, and the printed time is always the one that applies.
Our server clock decides whether a board arrived before the lock. That is the clock the site shows you and the clock the record is kept in.
You can change your board as often as you like until the round locks. The last board you submit before the lock is the one that is scored. A board submitted after the lock is not scored for that round.
Entries close on the date shown on the competition site, before the second round of the season. Up to that date you may join partway through: you are scored from the round you join in, earlier rounds are not added to your total, and you cannot catch them up. After that date no new entries are accepted.
Entries stay open for the whole season unless we publish a closing date on this site.
7. How your board is scored
The rules summary at the top of this page is the scoring, in full. It is generated from the same settings the scoring engine itself uses, so it always describes what is actually applied to your board rather than what applied when this page was written. It is part of these terms.
Scoring is mechanical. The same rules are applied to every board by the same code, and nobody exercises judgement about how many points a board scores. Two identical boards always score identically.
Where the judged result comes from
The judged result for a round is the result the programme broadcasts for that week. We enter it, and we publish it on the round page beside your score, so you can check it.
If the round is not broadcast, is not judged, or the result cannot be worked out from what was broadcast, we wait 72 hours from the scheduled broadcast and then void the round. A voided round is taken out of everyone’s season total. It is not scored as zero, so nobody gains and nobody loses by having submitted a board for it.
If you were in the competition for a round and did not submit a board, that round scores zero. That is different from a voided round, which is removed.
Ties in the judged result, and withdrawals
Where the judges place two or more teams equal, those teams jointly occupy the positions they share, and you are credited with whichever order you put them in.
If a team withdraws, it is removed from both the judged result and your board and the gap is closed, so you are not penalised for positions you could not have known to skip.
Settings we can change, and when we cannot
The point values, the tie rule and the withdrawal rule are settings. Once a round’s results are published, the settings that scored it are locked and cannot be changed. Nobody’s published score can be quietly restated.
If we change a setting for a future round, the rules summary on this page changes with it in the same moment, and we email everyone in the competition before it applies to a round.
8. Level scores, and why there is never a draw
Level scores are separated by more skill, never by luck. Where two entrants have the same season total, they are separated in this order, and every step is a measure of accuracy:
- The most perfect boards across the season.
- The most teams placed in exactly the right position across the season.
- The most exact guesses at the winning score.
- Whoever submitted their first board earliest. For an entry that never submitted a board, we use the time the entry was created.
A submission time is not luck. It is the moment you committed, it is recorded to the millisecond, and it is entirely within your control.
If two entrants are still level
If two or more entrants are level on every one of those measures, including submitting at the same instant, they share first place. The value of the prize is divided equally between them and each receives a voucher for their share. We do not settle it by drawing a name, and there is no further step after the four above.
9. The prize
There is one prize for the season: a voucher to spend at The Acacia Tree Furniture, with a total retail value of $4,500 in Australian dollars.
There are no other prizes. No weekly prize, no runner-up prize and no second prize. A round winner is named on the leaderboard each week and wins nothing for it.
We supply the prize and we pay for it. We are also the retailer the voucher is spent at, so there is no third party between you and the prize.
If something outside our control means we cannot supply the voucher, we may substitute a prize of equal or greater value.
We cannot give you tax advice. If you are not sure whether receiving the prize affects your tax, ask your own adviser.
10. The voucher, and how you use it
The voucher is valid for 3 years from the day it is issued, and the expiry date is printed on it.
You spend it on stock at The Acacia Tree Furniture, in the same way as any other customer. You do not have to spend it all at once, and any balance stays on the voucher until it is used or expires.
It cannot be exchanged for cash, and we do not give cash change. If you choose furniture worth more than the voucher, you can pay the difference.
The voucher is issued to the winner and is not transferable.
Delivery of the furniture is on the ordinary delivery terms published at theacaciatree.com.au, the same terms that apply to any other order.
Nothing in this clause affects the consumer guarantees. The furniture you buy with the voucher comes with guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded, and if something is wrong with it we deal with it the way we deal with any other order.
11. How the winner is decided, told and published
The winner is the entrant at the top of the leaderboard once the last round of the season has been scored. There is no draw.
We tell the winner in writing, by email to the address their entry was verified with, within 7 days of the last round being scored. If they gave us a phone number we may also call. That email address is the only way we have of reaching most entrants, so keep yours working.
Where and when the winner is published
We publish the winner on the leaderboard page of this site, within 7 days of the last round being scored, and the notice stays there for at least 28 days.
We publish the display name they chose and their state. We do not publish an email address, a phone number, a postcode or an address. Display names are already visible on the leaderboard while the season is running, so nothing new about the winner becomes public at that point.
Claiming it
The winner has 14 days from the day we email them to reply and claim the prize. Before we issue the voucher we may ask them to confirm their age and that they live in Australia, and we ask for a delivery address then. We do not hold one before that.
We issue the voucher within 28 days of confirming the winner.
12. If the prize is not claimed
If the winner does not reply within 14 days, or turns out not to have been eligible, the prize passes to the next eligible entrant on the published leaderboard, and they get the same 14 days to claim it. If that entrant does not claim it either, it passes down the leaderboard again, in order.
This is not a redraw. The order is the leaderboard order that has been published all season, so anybody can see in advance who the prize would pass to. Nothing about it is random.
We make that decision at our registered office at 1048 Geographe Bay Road, Geographe WA 6280, on the first working day after a claim period ends, and we email the entrant it passes to on the same day.
13. If you think a score is wrong
You have 7 days from the moment a round’s results are published to tell us you think your score is wrong. Write to us using the contact details under “Who runs this competition” and tell us the round and what you think should have happened.
Every board you have ever submitted is stored with the time it arrived, and every result is stored with the round, so we recalculate the score from the stored data rather than from anyone’s memory. If we got it wrong we correct the leaderboard and tell everyone whose position changes.
Once the 7 days have passed, the published score for that round is final.
If you are not happy with our answer, write to us again and someone at The Acacia Tree Furniture who was not involved the first time will look at it. That review is final. Nothing in this clause takes away any right you have under Australian law.
We keep the competition records, including every board and every result, for 5 years after the season ends.
14. Changes, delays and cancellation
These terms do not change once entries open. Western Australia requires the terms of a promotion of this kind to be lodged with its Gaming and Wagering Commission before it starts, and does not allow them to be amended afterwards without the Commission’s written approval first. We apply that to every entrant wherever they live: what you read when you entered is what applies for the whole season.
If something genuinely has to change, we get the approvals we need first, publish the change on this site, and email everyone in the competition. We will not make a change that takes away points or a position you have already earned.
If the season changes shape
A round that is not broadcast, not judged, or whose result we cannot work out within 72 hours of the scheduled broadcast is voided and removed from every total.
If the programme ends early, or the season cannot be finished, the competition ends with the last round that was judged and scored, and the prize goes to the entrant at the top of the leaderboard at that point.
If not a single round has been judged and scored, there is no leaderboard to award on and the prize is not awarded. Either way, nobody has paid anything, so nobody is out of pocket.
15. Your display name
The display name you choose is shown publicly on the leaderboard from your first scored round. Anyone can see it. It does not have to be your real name.
We can change or remove a display name that is offensive, misleading, pretends to be someone else, or advertises a business, and we can remove the entry behind it. Where we change a name rather than remove an entry, we email you to say so.
16. When we can remove an entry
We can remove an entry from the competition if:
- the same person holds more than one entry
- an entry code has been shared or sold
- boards are submitted by a script, a bot or anything other than a person using the site
- somebody interferes with the site, the scoring or another entrant
- the age or residency declaration was untrue
- the display name breaks the rules under “Your display name”
We email you first, tell you why, and give you 7 days to reply. If you reply we look at it again before deciding. An entry we remove scores nothing and cannot win.
One entry per person is enforced by the platform rather than by trust. Email addresses are compared in a normalised form, so capitals, dots and plus-tags do not create a second identity, and known disposable-address services are refused.
Before we hand over a prize we may ask the winner to confirm who they are and that they are eligible.
17. Emails, and marketing
Because you entered, we send you the emails the competition needs: the one that verifies your address and carries your code, a reminder of your code if you ask for one, a reminder before a round locks, and your results after a round is scored.
Marketing is separate and entirely optional. The box that asks whether you want news and offers from The Acacia Tree Furniture is never ticked for you, and whether you tick it makes no difference to your entry, your score or your chance of winning the prize.
We record whether you ticked it, the wording you were shown, and when. You can change your mind at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email we send you. It works without signing in, and it keeps working for at least 30 days after the email is sent. We action it within 5 working days.
Unsubscribing stops the round emails as well as the marketing, because it is a request to stop hearing from us. Your entry, your boards and your place on the leaderboard are not affected, and you can carry on playing by visiting the site.
18. Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or changes any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot be excluded.
Subject to that, our liability in connection with this competition is limited to supplying the prize again, or paying what it would cost to supply it again.
We are not responsible for an entry, a board or an email that does not arrive because of a fault we do not control, such as your internet connection, your device, or your email provider filtering our messages. If a board does not reach us before the lock, it is not scored.
We do not control the programme. We are not responsible for how it is broadcast, how it is judged, whether an episode airs, or what the judges decide.
19. Privacy
When you enter we collect a display name, an email address, a postcode, and a phone number if you choose to give one. We use them to run the competition, to stop one person holding two entries, to contact the winner, and to understand which parts of the country the competition reached.
Your display name is public on the leaderboard. Nothing else about you is.
We never sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we never give it to anyone else for their own marketing.
The privacy policy on this site has the detail: what is collected, who it is shared with, how long it is kept, and how to see it, correct it or have it deleted.
20. The law that applies
This competition is run as a game of skill. The result is decided entirely by how accurately entrants predict the judged outcome, measured against published rules, and no part of it is decided by chance at any stage, including the way level scores are separated.
These terms are governed by the law of Western Australia, where the promoter is registered, and you and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
By entering you accept these terms and the privacy policy.
