Questions people ask
The short answers. The terms carry the long ones.
Is it really free?
Yes. There is nothing to pay at any point, and no purchase is needed to enter or to win. A voucher to spend at The Acacia Tree Furniture is the season prize and it costs you nothing to play for it.
Who can enter?
Anyone living in Australia who is 18 or over. Every state and territory is included. The full eligibility rules are in the terms and conditions.
Do I need to make an account?
Yes. It takes a name, an email address and a postcode, and it is what lets you see your own board, your history round by round and where you sit on the ladder from any device. A phone number is optional and only used if you win and we cannot reach you by email.
How do I score points?
Each team you place in its exact finishing position scores 5 points. Each position away from where a team actually finished costs 1 point, down to a floor of zero. One place out scores 4, two places out scores 3, and so on. Place all five teams correctly and you have a perfect board, which adds 3 points. The bonus is deliberately small, so the season is decided by accuracy sustained across it rather than by one lucky round.
What happens if the judges tie two teams?
Where the judges place two or more teams equal, those teams jointly occupy the positions they share, and you are credited with whichever order you put them in.
Is any of it decided by luck?
No. Every point comes from how close your order was to the judges’ order, worked out by the published rules. Nothing in this competition is decided by chance at any stage, including when two entrants finish level.
What if I miss a week?
You stay on the ladder and keep every point you have already earned. A missed round scores nothing rather than removing you, and you can come back the following week.
When do picks close?
Before the room is judged, every week. The exact deadline is shown on your board and in the email we send when a round opens, in Sydney time. Once it passes, boards for that round are locked.
Do I need to watch the show?
That is the whole idea. You watch the rooms come together, form your own view of which one the judges will rank highest, and put five teams in that order before the episode airs. Watching is what makes the call yours, and comparing it against everybody else the following week is the fun of it.
Everything else is in the terms and conditions, which are written to be read rather than skimmed past.
