Refund policy

Entry is free, so there is nothing to refund. This page says that plainly, and covers what happens if a round is voided, if the season is cut short, or if something is wrong with the prize.

1. The short version

  • There is no entry fee. Entry is free for every entrant, in every round, for the whole season.
  • No payment method is collected at any point. There is no checkout, no card details, and no payment provider connected to this site.
  • Because nothing is ever charged, there is nothing that can be refunded.
  • Nobody will ever ask you to pay to enter, to stay in the competition, or to claim a prize. If someone does, it is not us.

2. Entry is free, so there is nothing to refund

Entry to this competition is free. There is nothing to buy in order to enter, nothing to buy in order to keep playing, and nothing to buy in order to claim the prize. No purchase gives you an advantage, because there is no purchase.

We do not collect a payment method. This site has no checkout, holds no card details, and has no payment provider connected to it. There is no billing record, so there is nothing to reverse.

We will never ask you to pay us anything for this competition. If you get a message asking for a payment, a fee, a deposit or your card details in connection with this competition, it is not from us. Do not pay it. Tell us at 1048 Geographe Bay Road, Geographe WA 6280, or through the contact details published at theacaciatree.com.au, and we will warn other entrants.

The competition is paid for by The Acacia Tree Pty Ltd, and the prize is bought and supplied by us. It is not funded by entrants.

3. If a round is voided

A round is voided if it is not broadcast, is not judged, or the judged result cannot be worked out from what was broadcast.

We wait 72 hours from the scheduled broadcast before voiding a round, so that a late episode or a late result is not treated as a missing one.

A voided round is removed from everyone’s season total. It is not scored as zero. That matters: scoring it as zero would punish the people who submitted a board for it, and removing it treats everybody the same.

Nothing is refundable, because nothing was paid. There is no compensation for a voided round and no entrant is out of pocket because of one.

We publish a voided round on the site and email everyone in the competition.

4. If the season is cut short

If the programme ends early, or the season cannot be finished for any other reason, the competition ends with the last round that was judged and scored, and the prize goes to the entrant at the top of the leaderboard at that point.

If not one round has been judged and scored, there is no leaderboard to award on, and the prize is not awarded.

Either way it is never settled by a draw. A single element of chance anywhere in this competition would change what it is, so the answer to “who wins if it stops early” is always the standings, never a random pick.

We tell everyone in the competition by email and publish it on the site.

Nothing is refundable because nothing was charged. You have no financial exposure to this competition being cut short.

5. If something is wrong with the prize

The prize is a voucher, so there are two steps. We issue the voucher to the winner, and the winner then chooses furniture with it. Different things can go wrong at each step, and they are handled differently.

The voucher

The voucher is valid for 3 years from the day it is issued, and the expiry is printed on it. You do not have to spend it in one go: any balance stays on it until it is used or expires.

It cannot be exchanged for cash and we do not give cash change. If you choose furniture worth more than the voucher, you can pay the difference. The voucher is issued to the winner and is not transferable.

If the voucher does not arrive, or does not work when you try to use it, tell us and we will fix it or reissue it.

The furniture

Buying furniture with the voucher is an ordinary purchase from The Acacia Tree Furniture. It comes with the consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law, which cannot be excluded, and it is covered by the same returns, warranty and delivery terms as any other order, published at theacaciatree.com.au.

If it arrives damaged, incomplete, or not as described, contact us the way any customer would and we will repair, replace or refund it as the law requires. Being a prize does not reduce those rights.

We may substitute a prize of equal or greater value if something outside our control means we cannot supply the voucher.

6. If entry ever becomes paid

Entry to this season is free and we have no plan to charge for it.

If a future season ever charged for entry, this page would be rewritten and republished before a single payment was taken, and the change could not apply to a season already under way. A paid competition is a different thing legally, not just commercially, and it would need to be looked at properly before it was switched on.
